As companies over a variety of industries continue to make the shift to the digital sphere, the demand for IT expertise has seen a substantial rise. Globally, IoT will continue to draw considerable attention — and investment — in 2019 and beyond. With rich experience in handling and delivering high-impact enterprise technology projects, Harmonic Consulting is paving the way forward for enterprises to leverage modern sensor technology, cutting-edge wireless connectivity, and data analytics—the three necessary ingredients for IoT realization. The company is enabling their clients to scale new heights and tap into their full potential value to drive better revenue flows as well as save on costs. In addition to their IoT edge, Harmonic Consulting’s strengths also reside in custom software development and architecture, cloud services, mobile, and Microsoft SharePoint, Azure and AWS technologies.

The evolution of sensor technology has undergone significant improvements and changes. Sensors have become smaller, and the microscopic scaling has given companies the chance to embed them in unique places, including clothing. The upscaling of wireless communications has also resulted in the spiraling rate of data exchange. “We have combined skill sets in both OT and IT that enable us to deliver end-to-end solutions for our customers,” says Rick Rowley, EVP, Cloud and Support Services at Harmonic Consulting. The company’s tech stack extracts valuable information from data blocks in real-time—as close as possible to the occurrence of their events—and then transfers it to client servers or IoT cloud storage for processing and analytics.

Harmonic Consulting employs a knowledgeable and highly qualified task force that understands different ways in which data can be compared, interpolated and extrapolated.“Our proven IoT experience has helped us assist clients who had little experience with data capture and streaming to understand and deploy solutions that fit their needs fully and improve the provision of their services, driving entirely new revenue channels of business for not only themselves, but also their customers as well,” says Brandon Acuff, President. Making IoT data trustworthy so it can be used as the basis for decision making calls for data management standards like data quality and data governance. Rick Rowley mentions, “In its raw form, IoT data is “dirty” – it hasn’t been filtered, validated, profiled or cleansed.

We are examining the use of newer technologies, such as blockchain, to ensure the original data sources can be trusted.”

Brandon Acuff shares the success story of one among many of Harmonic Consulting’s clients. An engineering company for the golf industry with a requirement of a solution that would allow them to offer better maintenance services at golf courses needed assistance. Harmonic provided the means to let users collect and visualize data (moisture content, turf firmness) on-the-go from their mobile devices thus eliminating the need for a computer, cable and GPS accessory. An IoT-based ecosystem was developed to capture and collect pre-existing golf course data via Bluetooth LE. The systems allowed superintendents and management the ability to collect real-time data from their crews, enabling them to better plan and integrate with sprinkler management, maintenance staff work structures and task prioritization at golf courses. Historical data, reports, and other data analytics were made available via desktop.

Having climbed the ladder of success many times, Harmonic Consulting is at the forefront of developing a new product suite based on “IoT as a Service” to enable faster implementation of the technology and plans to release it in Q3 of 2019. An estimated 20 billion devices are set to be connected to IoT services by 2020, and this is a point that the company sees as a welcoming prospect. The IoT suite will be platform agnostic, compatible with all available database storage facilities, and will work across all existing and new IoT protocols. It will also come prepackaged with connectors for various communication arrangements to ensure no significant data is lost.
